ONE THING LED TO ANOTHER
REFITTING OF A BAKERY SHOP WITH 100% RECYCLABLE FURNITURE
“I wonder at those who think about their body’s food, but do not think about their soul’s food. They keep away disturbing food from their belly but fill up their hearts with destructive subjects”
Carlo is a surprising and original guy. He had a clear and precise dream: building something authentic and genuine with an innovative perspective. Carlo developed his personality around the world in Italy, India, Australia, and Thailandia, and he saw many things, tasted flavors, and met many different people. After several years, he came back to Italy with the idea of spending his knowledge and sharing his experience with his clients. Therefore, Carlo decided to open a small bakery, a sort of jewelry of taste and experimentation. He started with a small community of followers, but by a few time, they doubled and tripled: quality and ideas always pay. Carlo makes super tasty bakery products with ingredients bio and at zero km. All products are vegan and promote a nature lovers lifestyle. He asked us to design a renovation of his shop that represented the manifesto of his principles: innovation and sustainability. First, we studied materials. Nowadays, there is a lot of wrong conviction about sustainability in building construction and furniture production. For example, in interior design, wood is considered an eco-sustainable material, but it’s not. Wood for furniture is full of phenolic glue and painted with very toxic products. So we studied new materials, and finally, we developed with a Faenza-based company an innovative composite material: super light, resistant, and recyclable and based on recycled raw materials. Crosspreg is a panel sandwich with care in recycled PET and hybrid resin skin. 100% recyclable, 100%, and made in Italy, so 100%local.We studied a simple composition: a long suspended counter, places for cakes, fresh goods, and pizza, surrounded by semi-circular storage with shelves to put the bread typologies. Both counter and storage are in Crosspreg, and their components are detachable and disposable in the plastic collection.” One Thing led to Another” is a truly sustainable project. Its materials and construction methods reflect its nature. We use a design strategy that facilitates sustainable operation during the furniture life cycle, including its ultimate disposal.
